About Rio Salado Target Terminators

The Rio Salado Target Terminators (RSTT) was one of the first Scholastic Clay Target (SCTP) teams formed in Arizona the fall of 2004. We are all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit program that utilizes certified shotgun coaches to teach the clay target shooting sports including but not limited to Trap, Sheet, and Sporting Clays.

RSTT youth shotgun club is for kids that are age 9 through high school and including collegiate. We are directly affiliated with the Scholastic Clay Target Program under the Arizona Department of Game & Fish. SCTP is a youth development program in which adult coaches and other volunteers use shooting sports to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and other positive life skills.

Mission Statement

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is an educational-athletic organization that exists to introduce school-age youths to the shooting sports and to facilitate their continued involvement by providing, promoting, and perpetuation opportunities to safely and enjoyably participate and compete in a high-quality, team-based sport led by trained adults coaches focused on enhancing the personal growth and development of their athletes.

Benefits

The program teaches youth the importance of firearms safety while instilling values they will use through their lives. The program provides team leaders and team members with the opportunity to participate in an activity that promotes the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Parents and participants are enthusiastic about the benefits of the program.

Joining The Team

All young people ages 9 through College are welcome to participate in four divisions: Rookie, Intermediate, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and Collegiate. No limit is placed on the number of people who can be on a team.

Practices and Competitions

Practices begin each fall and continue through early summer. Coaches are volunteers who are certified by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. They are responsible for organizing club activities and practices, and for teaching team members how to safely operate a firearm, and the basic rules and fundamentals of the shooting disciplines: Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays.

Each season concludes with the Commissioners’ Cup state championships in trap, skeet and sporting clays, where youths compete against their peers from across the state. Winning teams at these events are eligible to compete at the national championships
