Friday Night Practice (October 5, 2018)
Rio Salado Target Terminators:
Is a youth shotgun club offering disciplines in trap, skeet, and sporting clays for kids that are age 9 through high school and including collegiate. We are directly affiliated with the Scholastic Clay Target Program under the Arizona Department of Game & Fish. The SCTP is a team based youth development program that uses the shotgun sports to instill discipline, safety, teamwork, ethics, and self confidence. The team members can participate in any or all of the clay target disciplines.
The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is an educational-athletic organization that exists to introduce school-age youths to the shooting sports and to facilitate their continued involvement by providing, promoting, and perpetuation opportunities to safely and enjoyably participate and compete in a high-quality, team-based sport led by trained adults coaches focused on enhancing the personal growth and development of their athletes.
Joining The Team:
All young people in grades 5th – 12th are welcome to participate in four divisions: Rookie, Intermediate, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and Collegiate. No limit is placed on the number of people who can be on a team.
Practices and Competitions:
Practices begin each fall and continue through early summer. Coaches are volunteers who are certified by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. They are responsible for organizing club activities and practices, and for teaching team members how to safely operate a firearm, and the basic rules and fundamentals of the shooting disciplines: Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays.
Each season concludes with the Commissioners’ Cup state championships in trap, skeet and sporting clays, where youths compete against their peers from across the state. Winning teams at these events are eligible to compete at the national championships.
The program teaches youth the importance of firearms safety while instilling values they will use through their lives. The program provides team leaders and team members with the opportunity to participate in an activity that promotes the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Parents and participants are enthusiastic about the benefits of the program.
Once graduating from SCTP there are several opportunities to continue shooting though collegiate programs.
